FABMUMNG recently visited Standard Bearers School, which is tucked in a serene and secure location in Lekki.
First, we were warmly received by the Founder, Mrs Adeyinka Oni, and thereafter taken on a tour of the school by the administrator, Ms. Womiye Ojo.
A Little About Standard Bearers School
Standard Bearers School is sitting on a 4,500 square meters of prime property at the heart of Lekki Phase 1, off Admiralty way, Lagos.
It has a well-equipped range of facilities and resources to aid learning and help your child achieve holistic education in a child-friendly atmosphere.
The school was established at a time when the educational system in Nigeria was going through a difficult phase.
However, while there seemed to be a proliferation of schools at the time, quality standards were fast diminishing.
The idea to establish SBS was borne out of the desire the founder, Mrs. Adeyinka-Oni’s commitment to creating a school where academic and creative talents were given similar priorities.
An educator at heart and a teacher in a high-brow primary school at the time, it was agonizing for her to see pupils struggle with schools that were hard for everyone to grasp.
This being the exact opposite of what she experienced growing up, she resigned her job and set out to recreate the primary school of her childhood, thereby filling the void she saw in the system.
SBS opened its doors on January 7, 1997, with a small group of committed teachers and a few pupils.
Remarkably, with hard work, perseverance, and prayer, Mrs Adeyinka-Oni has been able to actualize the school of her dreams.
More so, over two decades later, SBS has grown tremendously in size, with a state-of-the-art facility spanning 4,500 square meters of prime property at the heart of Lekki Phase 1, off Admiralty way, Lagos and has produced over many children who have gone on to do great things.

However, regardless of the landmarks achieved, SBS has not rested on her oars.
