Fabmum School Spotlight: Greenwood House School

The FABMUMNG team recently went on a tour of the exceptional Greenwood House School located in Parkview Estate, Ikoyi, Lagos. The first thing, that struck us as first-time visitors, was the warm ambiance;it literally felt like a home away from home. So, its little wonder why the students all looked so relaxed and had a good rapport with their teachers.

Greenwood House School is an independent, friendly, Nursery and Primary School .It runs classes from playgroup to primary six and accepts children between the ages of two to 10 years irrespective of their cultural and religious backgrounds.

It is one of the top primary schools in Nigeria with an impressive record of academic successes. Greenwood House School students are consistently top performers in entrance examinations gaining admissions and yearly scholarships without fail into competitive secondary schools within and outside Nigeria.

Greenwood House School uses the British curriculum in the Primary School and the Cambridge Primary curriculum for the core subjects of English, Mathematics and Science.

The school also uses the English National Curriculum (with suitable adaptations to reflect our international nature and Nigerian heritage and location).

Greenwood House School is also an Oracle approved school and have only recently started teaching Coding and web designing.

We were very impressed with the newly revamped creche and the attention to detail especially hygiene and quality of staff. The setting is homely, attractive and huge .It also has lovely airy  clean and well equipped open spaces for the children to move about freely.

In addition, we spotted qualified, dedicated and experienced nursery practitioners and nurses at the creche. Mrs.Ekua said the teachers are very competent and keen and will hand over and discuss in details the observations in the daily record book on each child when their parents call. There are also a wealthy array of fun activities organizes by the very warm and caring staff.

Greenwood House school was founded on January 9, 1995, by a seasoned educationist; Mrs. Iyabo Durand, and a lawyer, Administrator and Educationist; Dr. Mrs. Ekua Abudu. The staff and the security in place are top notches. This means that as a parent, you can rest assured that your child is in good hands while you go about your job or business.

While showing our team a demo of how the school angel work, Mrs. Ekua noted that the School Angel has a unique fingerprint feature which allows only a registered Parent or Guardian or caregiver to pick up a child.

“When the pupils get to school in the morning, they clock in and their parents receive a message to let them know they are in school. Likewise, during closing hours, only a registered person known to both parents can pick up the child. And when the child clocks out, a message is sent to the parent, to let them know who picked their child and that the child is out of school,” She said.

Greenwood House School comes highly recommended by the FABMUMNG however you need to pay the school a visit to have a feel of the ambiance, facilities, and structures in place. You will be glad you did.
