The first edition of The Becoming A Fabulous Mum event held on November 26, at the beautiful garden of The Orchid Bistro, Ikeja G.R.A , Lagos. An initiative of leading parenting and motherhood resource site, www.fabmumng.com, the event saw a good turnout of fabulous Nigerian mums and dads.
The event kicked off with a registration, networking and registration sessions. The event commenced with an opening prayer by one of the fabulous mums in attendance, Mrs. Tosin Martins.
Foremost Nigerian gospel artiste, marketing professional and Minister of the Gospel, Mrs. Tolu Odukoya was the first speaker of the day. She spoke on the topic, “The Role of Unity in Marriage.” She also touched on pertinent issues that relate to marriage especially on the need to trust your spouse, sex in marriage and the need to deliberately show love to our husbands.
The founder of fabmumng.com, Mrs. Jayne Augoye, moderated the event and she was assisted by Dako Alice Temitope of Colours and Grey. In her welcome speech Mrs. Augoye shed more light on the inspiration behind founding www.fabmumng.com. She said, “www. fabmumng came about as a result of my experiences as a mother-of-three and a media professional. Having realized how challenging it is for Nigerian career and business mums is to strike a healthy work-life balance, I decided to offer an online resource site which will furnish mums with all the information they have always longed to have as it concerns, career, fashion, health, fitness, parenting, recipe, beauty, love and much more.
She further added, “Becoming a fabmum will be a quarterly event which will afford mums an avenue to network, unwind, meet other mums like themselves and also learn from experts in various areas of life.”
The question and answer session enabled a lot of fabulous Nigerian mums to share their personal struggles raising their children, growing their businesses, career and keeping the home front intact.”
The founder of fabmumng, Mrs. Augoye, who thanked the attendees, speakers and sponsors of the event, rounded off the event. She also expressed joy at the growth and impact that fabmumng was having in just a few months of existence.
