Looking for tips on how to write the perfect resume? Looking to stand out amongst other applicants? Or looking for the perfect way to market yourself? You can write your resume in 6 easy steps

Start with a summary

Hiring Managers no longer want to see long details, hiring managers now want to see short snappy paragraphs explaining all about yourself in not less than 50secs. Brief summary about yourself is very important as it spells out who you are and what you can do in split seconds that can help sell you properly.

Showcase your soft skills

Soft skills are essential when writing your resume as its critical to your success as an administrative professional. Highlight traits of communicating effectively, being organized and maintaining a positive attitude. Characteristics like the ability of working under stress should be well noted as well.

Highlight your technical knowledge

Your technical skills are very crucial as they stipulate your practical skills, things you can do. Software knowledge such as Microsoft word, PowerPoint and other software applications that will be useful to your position need to be added to your resume. Hiring managers now need to know what you can work with and based on the fact that the world is now a global village, there’s a need for you to actually acquire experience in these areas. Make clear that you have knowledge with these applications, also point out that you are committed to ongoing development of your technical skills through training and certification programs.

Demonstrate how you’ve added value

When writing about your accomplishments and duties ensure that you take a dive into how you’ve added value and benefited your previous company. Don’t just say it use data illustrations in explaining and quantifying your achievements. Employers are now looking for workers who can add value with the limited available resource that they have and as such, it’s important to show your hiring manager how you can add value to his/her business.

Show off specialised skills and knowledge

Its not a must you list all your hobbies and personal interests on your resume but if one of them appeals to the position you are trying to attain then you can add it. Show off specialized skills such as foreign language fluency and excessive travel could give you an edge if your employer has international operations or diverse workforce.

Include keywords

Many companies scan resumes for keywords that they’ve used in their job positing and as such you can run of risk of being rejected if you don’t actually pass their initial review stage. However, the solution to this problem is to use the words and phrases that match their job listing exactly. Take for example, an employer is looking for an applicant with experience in “logistics management.” Then, use the same wording in your resume, instead of a phrase like, “Supply chain management”. By doing so, you demonstrate that you pay attention to details and that you understand how to write a resume tailored to the specific job.
